About Uttarakhand Tourism

Devbhoomi — Land of the Gods

Devbhoomi Uttarakhand — carved out of Uttar Pradesh on 9 November 2000 — spans 53,483 sq km, rising from the subtropical Terai forests in the south to glaciated Himalayan walls where peaks exceed 7,800 metres. Its surreal landscape of lofty Himalayas, glistening streams, alpine meadows (bugyals), imposing glaciers and emerald lakes makes it one of the most coveted destinations in the Indian Himalayas. The state's 13 districts are divided into two cultural divisions: Garhwal (7 districts, west) and Kumaon (6 districts, east) — each with its own dialect, traditions and cuisine. Dehradun is the state capital and Gairsain the legislative capital, while the holy Ganga and Yamuna both rise within its borders.

Dotted with sacred Hindu temples and trekking trails, this North Indian state is a travel destination where along with seeking the blessing of the Almighty, one can indulge in adventure and recreational activities. With over 5.96 crore visitors in 2023 — a 61.79% rise since 2018 — Uttarakhand is India's fastest-growing mountain tourism destination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the best season to visit Uttarakhand?+

March–June for hill stations and treks, July–August only for Valley of Flowers, September–November for clear Himalayan views, and December–February for Auli's snow. Char Dham kapats open late April/early May and close around Diwali.

Do I need registration for the Char Dham Yatra?+

Yes — Uttarakhand government registration is mandatory for all four dhams. We handle biometric/online registration, helicopter slots and puja bookings as part of every pilgrimage package.

Garhwal or Kumaon — which region should I choose?+

Garhwal (7 districts) holds the Char Dham shrines, Rishikesh and the high treks; Kumaon (6 districts) offers lake towns like Nainital, Corbett's tiger country and quieter ridge villages like Munsiyari and Kausani. Many of our itineraries combine both.

Are your tours suitable for senior citizens and families?+

Absolutely. We arrange helicopter darshan, ponies/palkis at Kedarnath and Yamunotri, senior-paced itineraries, and family plans balancing safaris for kids with darshan for elders.

Can you customise an itinerary for me?+

Yes — every package on this site can be tailored. Use the Plan My Tour button and our team will send a free customised itinerary within 30 minutes on WhatsApp.
